Mary-Jo Chiklis - Alainna Chiklis- Erica Notini - Vanessa Costa

Mary-Jo is a 30+ year resident of Hudson and a graduate of St. Anselm College, where she majored in Biology.  Since college, she has had a successful career in retail management while maintaining her kennel where she raises and trains her favorite breed of dog, the Pug.

Mary-Jo has been training dogs professionally since 2002 and has earned Level I Certification through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers (CCPDT), the first national certification program for dog trainers. The CCPDT tests a trainer’s knowledge in five areas including instructional skills, animal husbandry, ethology, learning theory and equipment.  All certified trainers must earn continuing education credits to maintain their designation, “CPDT”.

Together with her daughter Alainna, Mary-Jo is striving to offer a unique boarding and day care program, as well as a fabulous basic training system to her clients.  Their day care offers great outdoor activities including group play, swimming and games of fetch and agility. Boarding clients are included in all outdoor activities along with day care dogs. Their training program offers sensitivity to the dog’s personality and temperament, and is coupled with effective training tools that will help foster a positive bond between the owner and their dog.

Mary-Jo is proud to be certified through AKC as a Canine Good Citizen evaluator and trains all breeds of dogs for obedience. For more on the AKC CGC program, click: Canine Good Citizen

Mary-Jo supports Pug Rescue of New England, and Canine Guardians for Life by fostering dogs who are in need of care, training and new "forever" homes. For more on her foster dogs, please see rescue.

Mary-Jo organized the Southern NH Pug Meetup, a social group for Pug owners in the Greater Nashua Area, as well as the Southern NH K-9 Good Citizen Meetup, which is open to all dogs who are working on their AKC CGC evaluation.

We give them the time we can spare,
the room we can spare,
and the food we can spare.
In return, they give us their all...it's the best deal man could ever make.

Alainna and Skye 2007

Alainna and Skye - Sept '06

Alainna has been training with Border Collies since '02 when she adopted her first border Collie through NEBCR. She fell in love with their intelligence and drive and later purchased a pup from "Mac" MacGregor, named Skye, a great working dog prospect.

Alainna is a graduate of the New England School of Photography, of Boston Ma., where she majored in Documentary and Editorial photography. After graduation she worked as an intern for the Boston Red Sox photography department, and enjoyed seeing her photos published in Red Sox magazine. Her documentary work on Panama City Spring break has been published in Seventeen magazine. She has recently started her own pet photography business.

In March 2011, Alainna was awarded her CGC evaluator certification from the American Kennel Club.

with Derek Scrimgeour, one of the UK's top sheepdog handlers and trainers.
In conversation, Derek described Alainna as having "great natural talent ".

Alainna and Skye train with Maurice MacGregor of Mims, Florida. "Mac", as he is known, is one of the founders of the Northeast Border Collie Association, and has been devoted to the promotion of the breed since 1962. He ranks among the east coast's top sheepdog trainers and his dogs have become some of the most sought after dogs in the country. Having great dispositions with people and tremendous working power and style, they are a favorite of both cattle and sheep farmers

Alainna works her dogs: Come by, Faye....Away to me, Skye!
Faye is a former rescue from NEBCR . Skye is from strong working lines, and LOVES herding her sheep!

Erica

Erica in the daycare - 2009

Erica has been working the kennel since 2009. She is currently a Sophomore at Alvirne High School in Hudson, where she participates in many extra curricular activities including Track and Cross Country. She rated All-American in the USATF Nationals for Cross Country in 2010. Erica plays the Trombone in the Broncos Jazz Band. She is also a member of both the marching band and the concert band.

Erica is high energy and luckily for us, she brings that energy to the daycare with her. She says her job is not really work, it's fun! Her favorite breed of dog is the German Shepherd, although she owns a Bichon Frise and a Chihuahua, both rescues. After graduating from high school, Erica plans on attending college and to continue to run competitively.
